3-county chase ends in with arrest of Atlanta man

An Atlanta man was arrested Tuesday morning after allegedly fleeing when a Dawson County sheriff’s deputy tried to stop him for a traffic violation.

“A Dawson County Crime Suppression Unit deputy initiated a traffic stop on GA 400 northbound,” a posting on the sheriff’s office Facebook page says. “The driver, Hassan Bey of Atlanta, fled, leading to a pursuit. During the pursuit, the vehicle was determined to be stolen.”

The chase continued north into Lumpkin County before returning south through Dawson County. “The Georgia State Patrol then took the lead and continued the pursuit into Forsyth County, where Bey crashed into a dump truck.”

Bey was taken into custody without incident following the crash and taken to a hospital with minor injuries. He was still in custody at the Dawson County Detention Center early Tuesday night.
