Nearly 24 miles of road safety improvements are planned on I-985 under a contract recently approved by the state Department of Transportation Board.
The 23.9-mile project involves “pavement marking upgrades” and will begin at the I-85 split and extend to the US. 129/Georgia 369 interchange.
The $4.7 million contract was awarded to Peek Pavement Markings of Columbus. It was one of ten projects the board approved in February. In addition to safety improvements, there were contracts let for resurfacing and bridge construction and reconstruction.
