*The drought in Georgia just keeps hanging on. The latest report from the U.S. Drought Monitor shows things are virtually unchanged from a week ago. The drought is confined to a string of ten counties along the Tennessee and North Carolina lines from Towns County to Dade.
*An 84-year-old woman has told Gainesville Police she’s the victim of a $13,140 fraud. She says someone unknown to her charged that amount to one of her credit cards.
*A Commerce police officer whose DUI arrests had been under scrutiny is out of a job. Jacob Wood was fired following an internal investigation. (EARLIER STORY. The complaints against him allege that some of those who were charged may not have been driving under the influence.)
