$100K+ worth of tires stolen; other recent thefts under investigation

For the second time in a little over a month a trailer load of tires worth thousands of dollars has been stolen from a Chicopee area industrial park.

This time it was a haul worth $100,650. The theft was reported Monday, according to Gainesville Police.

More than $155,000 worth of tires were in a trailer reported stolen from a Gainesville business in early May.

A 34-year-old Gainesville woman is charged with eight counts of shoplifting from the Target store on Shallowford Road. Gainesville Police spokesman Kevin Holbrook says Jennifer Chelsa Ellison was arrested Tuesday. Each of the charges allege she stole items worth $500 or less.

Meanwhile, two people are facing shoplifting charges in Flowery Branch. Complete details are not yet known but Hall County Jail records show the pair, Martin Apuela-Gonzalez, 29, and Alexandra Apuela-Gonzalez, 26, are ach charged with theft by shoplifting over $500. In addition, Alexandra is charged with obstruction of an officer/resisting arrest. Their cases are being handled by Flowery Branch Police.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) has a couple of cases of tool theft that are under investigation. One occurred at a house in the 5000 block of Old Orr Road and resulted in the loss of items worth $1,700.

In the second instance, the complainant had a traffic accident in the 5300 block of Clarks Bridge Road during which his toolbox came out of the back of his truck, according to HCSO spokeswoman B.J. Williams. “He told deputies he was unable to retrieve the toolbox because he had an injury to his hand, so he left the toolbox by a tree on the side of the road.” Williams added. “When he returned, the toolbox loaded with tools was gone. Estimated value of missing items is $3,000.”
