UPDATE: Police chase ends on Green St. with crash, serious injury

The state patrol confirmed Monday morning that the wreck Sunday night that closed a section of Green Street for about three hours was the end result of a police chase. Troopers also say the crash resulted in a serious injury.

STATE PATROL NARRATIVE:

“…Troopers were requested by Hall County Sheriff Office to assist in a pursuit with a black Camaro traveling south on SR 60, Thompson Bridge Road.  Troopers observed the Camaro traveling south on SR 60 in the right lane at a high rate of speed.  The Camaro continued south on Green Street at a high rate of speed and driving reckless. 

The Camaro traveled into the northbound lane and side swiped a BMW near Green Street Place.  The Camaro ran off the roadway and came to an uncontrollable stop and three teenage occupants exited the vehicle. 

The driver and a passenger of the Camaro were transported to NEGA Medical Center in Gainesville.  The passenger of the Camaro was released.  The driver of the BMW was transported to NEGA Medical Center in Gainesville with serious injuries.

A state patrol spokesman added that as of late Monday morning no names were available.
