State and national news outlets – including Georgia News Network and msn.com – have now picked up the story.
This comes just days after the Northeast Georgia Health System backed off a new policy that would have restricted holiday decorations in the workplace.
The plan was to limit decorations to pre-approved holiday kits containing a tree, ornaments, and a wreath. WSB-TV and the Georgia News Network report officials said it was meant to create a “consistent and professional” appearance, but some employees said it was dampening their holiday spirit.
Sean Couch, Director of Communications for the hospital system, said that in its more than 70-year history, it has never had a policy, so officials decided to create one. But due to the pushback, they have “put a pause” on the new policy, at least for this year, but may revisit it next year.
