UPDATE: Corps announces list of Lanier amenities that will remain open

Following up on the events of last week when it announced that the campgrounds, boat ramps and parks it oversees on Lake Lanier would be closed until further notice – and then said some would remain open, the Corps of Engineers Friday announced which facilities will be open.

“We will be continually assessing and reassessing these temporary closures throughout the summer,” a Corps news release says. “We encourage visitors to check the current operational status of Corps managed recreation areas at Lake Lanier for any restrictions or safety alerts prior to visiting.”

Campgrounds are open and are not planned to close, Friday’s announcement says. And here is the status of everything else:

The temporary closures will remain in effect until we can adequately address the staffing shortages, the Corps says. Corps Lakes Gateway is where you will find real-time updates regarding the parks and alternative recreational options in the area.

And remember: Parks on the lake operated by local governments are open and were never on any Corps lists.
