Jackson Electric Membership Corporation (EMC) has selected two high school students from Hall County as delegates for the 2025 Washington Youth Tour, scheduled June 13-20.
Jo Lundy, a junior at Cherokee Bluff, and Riley, Seau, Jr., a sophomore at Chestatee, were chosen for the all-expense paid leadership development experience sponsored by Georgia’s electric cooperatives and organized by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA).
Lundy is the daughter of Dan and Heather Lundy of Hoschton. She has been vice president of Skills USA and an active member of National Honor Society and International Thespian Society. In addition to being captain of the varsity volleyball team, she is a national elite player for Atlanta Extreme Volleyball Club. Through the leadership academy at Cherokee Bluff, she volunteers at a local food pantry and homeless care programs. In addition, she is assisting in elementary and middle school classrooms in Hall County schools. Jo plans to follow her parents’ passion for education and become a history teacher.
Seau is the son of Retired U.S. Army Sgt. Major Riley Seau, Sr., and Peresia Seau of Gainesville. He is an active member of Student Council, Academic Club and the National Honor Society. He has represented the military community through a Student Ambassador Program, and is an avid volunteer in his community. As a volunteer with Wreaths Across America, he helps honor fallen service members by organizing and placing wreaths on their headstones. Additionally, he secures and packages items for Operation Christmas Child each year. He is also trained in Jiu-Jitsu. Riley plans a career as a corporate lawyer.
High school counselors and teachers in the Jackson EMC service area were invited to nominate students for the competition, and students could apply directly. Four delegates were selected based on academics, community service, oral and written communications skills, letters of recommendation and a personal interview.
The other two Jackson EMC delegates selected were Alexa Cabreja, junior at Archer High School, and Kinsey Wilder, junior at Jefferson High School.
Since 1965, the Washington Youth Tour has given more than 3,500 Georgia students and more than 55,000 students nationwide the opportunity to participate in this leadership and team-building experience. For more information on the Washington Youth Tour, see jacksonemc.com/wyt.
