Tariffs: Continuing concern for Ga. poultry industry

As if the bird flu threat is not enough, there are increasing fears that the ongoing trade dispute with China could jeopardize Georgia’s poultry industry.

Grey Tyler with the U.S Poultry and Egg Council tells Atlanta News First if tariffs continue with China jobs in the poultry industry will be impacted.

Tyler notes the market is still trying to recover from the China’s 2023 ban on U.S poultry due to outbreaks of the bird flu.

Other countries, such as Canada, have already taken U.S poultry products out of stores. Tyler says he hopes negotiations will help ease the impact to Georgia poultry farmers.
