It took almost five years, but Banks County authorities got their man.
The sheriff’s office announced Monday that Ray Bernard Collins Jr., 57, of Commerce was arrested in connection with the 2019 burglary of a Banks County business. A sheriff’s office Facebook posting, without elaboration, said the arrest followed “a thorough forensic investigation.”
The break-in occurred Oct. 4, 2019, and was discovered by deputies responding to a burglary alarm at the Four Way Stop convenience store.
The officers reported that someone had broken a window, entered the store, and stolen items. Evidence recovered from the scene, a Facebook posting said, led to the successful identification and arrest of Collins, who is charged with 2nd Degree Burglary.
