State’s largest fentanyl bust; From one ‘big’ house to another – maybe; Getting out of jail, but…

*FBI and DEA agents are calling it Georgia’s largest fentanyl seizure. Following the indictment of 47-year-old Bartholomew Harralson on multiple drug and weapons charges by a federal grand jury, the number of drugs found reportedly is equivalent to killing 48 million people. Agents also seized 28 firearms during a search at three of Harrlson’s homes in the metro Atlanta area on June 5. The total street value of the drugs is estimated at $9.2 million. 

*Former Clayton County Sheriff and jail occupant Victor Hill announced Tuesday he’s running for Congress in Georgia’s 5th District. Hill revealed his campaign on his podcast, saying he’ll run as a Democrat and focus on crime and prison reform. The district is currently represented by Congresswoman Nikema Williams and was long held by the late John Lewis. Hill previously served 18 months in federal prison for civil rights violations and is barred from working in law enforcement.  
 
*Macon-Bibb Mayor Lester Miller announces an initiative that involves 150 inmates charged with non-violent crimes to be released from the Bibb County Jail. Miller stipulates the conditions would require the released inmates wear an ankle monitor while finding gainful employment and attending treatment programs offered by Bibb County. The initiative is part of the county’s efforts to revamp the criminal justice system. The jail currently houses over a thousand inmates.
