State Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson dies

Georgia Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson died Sunday, eight months after announcing that he had pancreatic cancer. He was 59. The announcement of his death was made by the Labor Department.

Thompson’s tenue in state government began with his election to the Georgia State Senate in 2013.

As Senator, he served as Chairman of the Science & Technology Committee, the Veterans and Homeland Security Committee, and the Economic Development and Tourism Committee.

Thompson was elected labor commissioner two years ago.
