A Gainesville man charged last month in a deadly crash on Browns Bridge Road has now been charged with possession of child sex abuse material (CSAM).
HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NEWS RELEASE:
“…Wednesday an investigator with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO)
Accident Investigation Unit (AUI) was processing suspect Rafael Garrido’s cell phone for
evidence in the vehicular homicide case when he found a video of children involved in
sexual acts. The phone had been seized on March 22, following the collision that killed two
people on Brown’s Bridge Road near S. Smith Road.
The evidence was immediately turned
over to investigators with HCSO’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit, who found
a second video. ICAC investigators issued a warrant for felony sexual exploitation of a
minor (two counts).
Mr. Garrido was (was arrested on the new charges) at the Hall County Courthouse where
he was scheduled for a committal hearing in the vehicular homicide case. During the arrest,
