Smoke from Canadian wildfires pushing into Ga.; stormy weather gone – for now

A lot of people across north and central Georgia may notice a hazy/smoky appearance to the sky today. This is due to wildfire smoke blowing southward out of Canada, the National Weather Service (NWS) says. “Impacts to air quality are not expected,” forecasters add, and you can find updates on air quality at https://www.airnow.gov/#gawx

And here’s where you’ll find the latest on the fires and their potential impact on the U.S.:

Otherwise, forecasters say “A much-wanted/much-needed quiet weather day is in store” Saturday, with no storms to worry about. In fact, as of Saturday morning, much of the next week is “storm-free.”
