S. Hall traffic stop leads to drug trafficking arrest


A Barrow County man was arrested on drug trafficking charges earlier this week following a traffic stop by a Flowery Branch police officer. The officer stopped the car in the area of Atlanta Highway and East Main Street after he says he noticed that it was not staying in the proper lane of traffic.

FLOWERY BRANCH POLICE NEWS RELEASE:

“During the course of the investigation, a search of the vehicle was conducted. Officers
discovered multiple types of narcotics and drug-related items inside the vehicle.
The driver, James W. Smith, 42, of Winder, who was still in the Hall County Jail without bond late Saturday morning, was arrested and charged with the following
offenses:

  • Trafficking Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance
  • Possession of Marijuana Less Than One Ounce
  • Tampering with Evidence
  • Possession of Drug-Related Objects
  • Failure to Maintain Lane
  • No License on Person
