S. Ga. mayor, wife charged with child molestation, cruelty to children

The mayor of Climax, Georgia, Joseph Kelly, 38, has been arrested and charged with two counts of child molestation, and his wife, Natalie Kelly, 44, has been charged with two counts of cruelty to children in the second degree.

The couple was arrested by the GBI Saturday. The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office has requested the GBI’s assistance to investigate allegations that Joseph Kelly had sexual contact with several minors.

Joseph Kelly, in addition to serving as the mayor of Climax, is employed by the Decatur County School District. At this time, the GBI says there is no indication that the alleged acts are related to his employment.
