The Chattahoochee Riverkeeper has added a Gainesville waterway to its list trash removals systems around the state – the latest addition to its In Street Trash Removal project.
The newly installed Gainesville trap is in a stream in Kenwood Park and like the others is designed to catch litter from roads, parks, sidewalks, etc. – keeping it out of the Chattahoochee, Lake Lanier and other downstream waterways. Riverkeeper says if left uncheck this stuff eventually ends up in the Gulf of Mexico, harming “critical habitats” along the way.
