Risk of severe weather grows

All of north Georgia is now at Level 3 as “confidence continues to increase in a line of thunderstorms moving into north and central Georgia from late afternoon through the evening hours,” according to the National Weather Service (NWS). In those parts of the state the window of greatest concern is 4:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m.

In a 6:00 a.m. update Saturday, forecasters warn “Primary hazards will be damaging wind gusts of 50 to 70 mph, but quarter-size hail and brief tornadoes are also possible. Stay tuned for updates and be sure to have a way to receive weather warnings!”

With Level 1 being the least-severe on the NWS scale of severity, you can see from the accompanying map where we now stand.
