Reevaluating Juneteenth support; Soft drink recall; Attacking storm-related outages; Lives of out-of-state public officials threatened

*Juneteenth celebrations in Georgia are facing funding shortfalls this year as companies and municipalities reconsider their support for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. 

*Dr. Pepper has recalled its Zero Sugar drink in Georgia, as well as Florida and South Carolina, due to mislabeling that says they contain sugar. The affected products have a best-by-date of February 16, 2026.  

*Georgia Power says it will be utilizing innovative grid technology to reduce outages during severe weather. In 2023, a spokesman says customers experienced a 50 percent improvement, partly due to technology upgrades following Hurricane Helene.  

*Robert Davis Forney, 25, of Duluth, was arraigned Monday before a federal magistrate in Atlanta on charges of threatening the lives of two Republican members of the U.S Senate. Forney was indicted by a federal grand jury Iast week just days before the attacks on two Democratic members of Congress in Minnesota, one of which proved fatal.
