Ever get annoyed when a big rig begins slowing and suddenly it emits a loud noise similar to a loud muffler? Well, some people in Forsyth County have and county officials have taken notice.
The county commission later this month will hold a public hearing on an amendment to the county’s noise ordinance which would prohibit the uses of compression brakes, engine brakes, or jake brakes in the county. These devices are already prohibited in some places in the country.
The proposed amendment before Forsyth County Commissioners would also authorize the placement of signs along county and state roads alerting truckers to the prohibition.
The commission hearing will be held June 19.
