*More than 500 workers in the Wiregrass region of Alabama and Georgia will be losing their jobs later this year. Officials at Georgia-Pacific announced Wednesday plans to cut most of the positions at its Cedar Springs Containerboard Mill in southwest Georgia by August 1.
*A new Georgia license plate featuring President Trump’s campaign theme will soon be available. Gov. Kemp signed a bill Wednesday that allows the use of a Georgia plate with imagery of the U.S. flag and the words “America First.” Democrats were partly against the measure due to the roots of the slogan, which can be traced to Nazi party ideals.
*A Florida lawyer is facing a fine for trying to register to vote in Georgia. Bill Price attempted to register using his brother’s Paulding County address ahead of the 2021 U.S. Senate runoff races. WSB-TV reports Price encouraged other Republicans in his home of Bay County to change their addresses so they could vote for Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue. Georgia’s state election board fined him $3,500 this week.
