Oakwood PD: ‘Fishtailing’ driver jailed

A Gainesville man with several “active” suspensions on his driver’s license is free on bond after his recent arrest after an Oakwood Police office reportedly observed him driving in a reckless manner and trying to control his fishtailing pickup.

OAKWOOD POLICE DEPT. NEWS RELEASE:

“(Friday) around 7:30pm, Officer Earle was stopped at a red light on Mundy Mill Rd, at the intersection with Mathis Dr.

While stopped Officer Earle heard a vehicle with loud exhaust accelerate rapidly immediately followed by screeching tires. Officer Earle looked for the source of the noise and saw a pickup truck making a left turn from a private road (across from Mathis Dr.) onto Mundy Mill Rd., towards Old Oakwood Road.

The truck was accelerating fast enough causing it to drift partially sideways through the turn, and then began fishtailing (back end of vehicle swerving side to side) when the driver was trying to straighten the truck out. Officer Earle activated his lights and conduct a traffic stop on the 1989 GMC Sierra pickup truck.

The driver was identified as Farias Osman (23) of Gainesville.

Farias Osman had multiple active suspensions on his driver’s license. He was arrested for driving on a suspended driver’s license and Laying Drags.”

A Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokesman says Osman was freed on $1,970 bond Saturday.
