Two separate house fires Sunday night kept Hall County Fire Rescue (HCFR) busy but there were no serious injuries reported.
The first was on Bluffton Drive off Athens Highway, according to HCFR spokesman Bobby Ogletree. “911 received a call about a house on fire and an individual receiving assistance from neighbors to exit the burning home through a window,” Ogletree said. “Hall Fire units arrived to find a two-story structure with heavy fire involvement throughout the attic of the home.”
Two people who were in the house were taken to a hospital for evaluation, but neither suffered life-threatening injuries.
The second fire occurred in the 3000 block of Garden Boulevard units from both HCFR and the Gainesville Fire Department responded after a report of smoke in the residence.
“Fire crews arrived to find a single-family dwelling with smoke showing from the front of the home,” Chief Ogletree said. Two cats and a dog died in the fire.
The cause of both fires remained under investigation Monday morning.
