Commissioners in Barrow County are reconsidering how many school resource officers they’ll help fund, months after a shooting at Apalachee High School raised concerns about campus safety.
The school district currently staffs 16 officers, split evenly between county and school funds, but that number hasn’t grown despite a previous agreement to add more.
A new proposal would revert to a 2017 agreement limiting the county’s share to just 12 officers, forcing the school district to pick up the rest.
