New Buford stadium update; new Hall fire station; Hall Agribusiness Awards

*The new football stadium for the Buford High School football team remains on track for opening this fall. The $62 million structure will include fieldhouses, a banquet hall, ten suites atop the home stands, and a 3,500 square foot scoreboard. The school, which year in and year out produces one of the top teams in the state, has played its home games in a stadium built in 1950.

*Hall County will host a grand opening May 9 to celebrate the county’s newest fire station. Located at 5719 Holiday Road, it will be the county’s 17th fire station. It was completed on a $6.3 million budget and received its funding from SPLOST VII, SPLOST VIII, Impact Fees and Capital Projects, according to county officials. Construction began last May.

*Hall County’ 2024 Agribusiness Awards were handed out Tuesday. Dale Jones was named Farmer of the Year, Country Charm Eggs received the Agribusiness of the Year award, Vince Booker was honored posthumously with the Agriculture Hall of Fame Award, and former Gainesville Board of Education member Sammy Smith received the Friend of Agriculture Award.
