Monthly report on unemployment insurance claims

First-time applications for unemployment insurance last month were up in Hall County 39.5% compared to March and 28.6% compared to April a year ago.

Claims statewide in April were also up in both categories, 13.5% and 18.1%, respectively. In the 12-county Georgia Mountains Region, which includes Hall County, applications increased over March by 26.7% and over the year, 6.3%.
