Most of it is now confined to a few counties along the South Carolina line from Lincoln County to Chatham and all of southeast and southwest Georgia. The amount of the state that is now drought-free totals 53.7 percent compared to 48.7 percent a week ago.
The level of Lake Lanier, meanwhile, is down two-tenths of a foot since last Thursday and is now at 1071.6.
