Missing something that usually gets to your home or office by now?

A statewide delay in updating the Tax Assessor and Tax Commissioner software packages for the implementation of new assessment and notification rules, Notices of Assessment for 2025 for Hall County property owners have not gone out.

Typically, assessment notices are mailed in the first week of May. However, due to software update delays in all 159 counties, the mailing of assessment notices is indefinitely delayed at this time. Once assessment notices are mailed, you can expect the following, according to the Hall County Tas Assessors Office:

  • Per House Bill 581, 2025 assessment notices will no longer contain an estimate of taxes; however, Hall County plans to provide property tax estimates online via qPublic for every parcel.
  • Per House Bill 581, if provided, the assessment notice will contain an estimated rollback millage rate. If the estimated rollback rate is not provided, an estimate of property tax will be provided, but for M&O only (Maintenance & Operation). Estimated rollback millage rates will not include special service districts or fees.
  • In some cases, you may notice a difference in the type of notice you receive depending on whether a levying authority has or has not furnished this office with their estimated rollback millage rate. Those differences will be relatively slight. As mentioned before, if the levying authority does not provide its estimated rollback millage rate for its maintenance and operation, the assessment notice will include an estimate of the M&O tax. If the estimated rollback millage rate is provided, no tax estimate will be provided.
  • If you did not apply for a homestead exemption by April 1, you will have another chance to do so per House Bill 581. Property owners are now able to apply for a homestead exemption, including the total school tax exemption, during the 45-day appeal window. Therefore, if you missed the April 1 deadline or if you have any questions about your eligibility, please call us at 770-531-6720 or click here for more details.
