A Lula man, who is wanted in Hall County, remained in the Habersham County Detention Center Friday afternoon in lieu of bonds totaling $15,600 following a chase Thursday with Habersham sheriff’s deputies.
HABERSHAM CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE NEWS RELEASE:
Habersham County Sheriff’s Office personnel attempted to arrest Marvin Chris Mangjust before 2 p.m. after positively identifying him as a known felon wanted out of Hall
County.
An investigatory traffic stop was initiated on Ivey Street just off Sunshine Circle, at
which time Mangum failed to yield to deputies and initiated a vehicle pursuit.
Mangum ran the stop sign at the intersection with Hoyt Street, losing control of the Ford
Ranger truck he was driving and then brushing against the PIT bumper of a (deputy’s car) before running the stop sign and turning left onto Level
Grove Road toward downtown Cornelia.
The pursuit led to a vacant portion of a gravel parking lot, where the suspect vehicle
jumped a ditch before colliding with a Habersham County Sheriff’s Office unit on Hoyt
Street beside Hillside Baptist Church.
Mangum then fled on foot, being apprehended by a Habersham County Sheriff’s Office
patrol K9 in front of The Lord’s Help Soup Kitchen at 236 Level Grove Road in Cornelia.”
