JHS asst. football coach named program’s head coach

Donovan Odom has been named Head Football Coach of the Johnson Knights. Odom succeeds Coach William Harrell, who stepped down earlier this year for personal reasons.

Odom has served as Johnson’s offensive coordinator, and most recently defensive coordinator,
during his five-year tenure with the Knights. He brings experience, passion, and a deep
commitment to the school’s mission.

“We are excited to have Coach Odom take over the leadership of our program,” said Johnson
High Principal Jonathan Edwards. “He has a passion for football and a strong vision for building
both athletes and young men of character. He aligns perfectly with our values.”

Odom expressed his gratitude and outlined his vision for the program. “Thank you to God; I
know anything is possible through Christ Jesus. I also want to thank my wife Rachel, my parents,
and all who have supported me on this journey,” said Odum. “I am honored to lead this
program. Our athletes will be Accountable, Dependable, and Teachable. We’ll instill Discipline,
Toughness, and Heart—on and off the field.”

“Coach Odom has been a vital part of our football family,” added JHS Athletic Director Lewis Pulliam. “His leadership and energy will carry the Knights into a new era. We’re confident in the direction he’ll take this
program…”
