HCSO: Woman kidnapped, dragged by car during S. Hall domestic dispute

A South Hall man remained in jail at mid-morning Wednesday after being charged by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) with kidnapping, aggravated assault, and other offenses following a weekend domestic dispute.

HCSO NARRATIVE:

“According to the preliminary investigation, the suspect, Kyle James Craig, 31, and the female victim, 39, were together at a residence in the 5200 block of Union Circle early Sunday morning, June 1. The victim asked Craig to take her home at approximately 2 a.m.

When they arrived at the victim’s home near McEver Road, she got out Craig’s car, and he dumped her purse on the floorboard of the vehicle. As the victim was picking up items from her purse, Craig drove off with her hanging out of the car. He dragged her for a short distance as she climbed back into the vehicle. Craig continued driving, erratically and at a high rate of speed, refusing the victim’s pleas to let her out. She was able to escape the car and call 911 when Craig stopped at a red light on Ga. 13/Atlanta Highway near Wade Orr Road.

Deputies responded to the victim’s call and met with her at her residence. She suffered bruising to her arm and leg from the incident but refused treatment. At approximately 3:45 a.m., they located and arrested Craig at the Union Circle address. Deputies charged him with the following:

  • Kidnapping (felony)
  • False imprisonment (felony)
  • Aggravated assault (felony)
  • Battery under the Family Violence Act (misdemeanor)
  • DUI alcohol (misdemeanor)
  • Driving while license suspended (misdemeanor)

Craig is being held in the Hall County Jail without bond.”
