HCSO: Wanted man arrested for passing stopped school bus

Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputies arrested a Cumming man Wednesday morning after he failed to stop for a stopped school bus on Mundy Mill Road at Creekside. Deputies later learned he was wanted in Forsyth County.

HCSO NARRATIVE:

“An HCSO patrol deputy was in the area around 8 a.m. when he observed Raul Garcia-Mendoza, 29, driving a dump truck eastbound on Mundy Mill Road. The school bus was stopped in the far right lane to load students. The bus had its hazard lights flashing and its stop sign extended. Garcia-Mendoza passed the bus without stopping. Another deputy on patrol in the area was alerted, and he was able to stop Mr. Garcia-Mendoza a short distance away.

Mr. Garcia-Mendoza was unable to provide a valid driver’s license. Deputies also determined he had two arrest warrants out of Forsyth County. He was charged with two misdemeanor offenses: driving without a valid license and meeting/overtaking a stopped school bus. He posted a bond of $1,430 on the Hall County charges and was released to Forsyth County Thursday morning.”

A spokeswoman for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office says Garcia-Mendoza was wanted for probation violation.
