HALL COUNTY (HCSO) NARRATIVE :
“Two Gainesville men remain in the Hall County Jail following a shooting incident that occurred Wednesday night, May 28…at a residence on Biscayne Place in Gainesville.
According to the investigation to date, the shooting suspect, identified as Mekhi Jebron Ellison, 23, arrived at the residence to confront the victim, identified as Josheau Kiera Hester, 42. Ellison opened fire with a 9 mm handgun, striking Hester in the lower extremities. Ellison left the scene and Hester went to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville to seek treatment. The motivation for the shooting remains under investigation.
Officers from the Gainesville Police Department, who went to the hospital for the initial response to the incident, contacted the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) when they determined the shooting had occurred in the county’s jurisdiction.
Hester, who was wanted on a number of drug warrants from an incident that occurred at his residence on Bliss Drive on Dec. 3, 2024, was placed under arrest at the hospital on the following charges:
- Possession of THC oil with intent to distribute (5 THC pens)
- Possession of hydrocodone with intent to distribute (14 oxycodone tablets)
- Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute (1,805 grams=3.98 lbs.)
- Possession of marijuana
- Possession of MDMA with intent to distribute (30.17 grams)
- Trafficking MDMA
Hester was transported to the Hall County Jail…May 30. He is being held without bond.”
