A Gainesville man was arrested on several traffic charges Friday night when Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputies observed him speeding on his motorcycle on I-985 northbound.
HCSO NARRATIVE:
“Axel Anthony Elizarraraz, 21, was first observed traveling at a high rate of speed near the Exit 8 northbound ramp just after 11:30…
The HCSO traffic deputy checked the motorcycle’s speed at 90 mph in a 70 mph speed zone. The deputy activated his emergency equipment and followed the motorcycle in order to make a traffic stop. The deputy observed Elizarraraz drive between lanes through slower-moving traffic and was able to catch up to him near the Exit 12 off ramp. Instead of stopping, Elizarraraz increased his speed to 125 mph. The deputy notified Hall County Dispatch that he was stopping his pursuit.
Meanwhile, a second HCSO deputy who was conducting traffic surveillance just north of Exit 14 observed the motorcycle approaching. He checked the motorcycle speed at 109 mph and saw Elizarraraz take the Exit 16 off ramp. At that point, an Oakwood Police Department officer was able to stop Elizarraraz on Mundy Mill Road where the first HCSO deputy arrived to arrest the suspect.
Elizarraraz was charged with the following offenses:
· Speeding (2 counts)
· Reckless driving
· Fleeing/attempting to elude
· Failure to maintain lane
· Driving with the wrong class of license
· Driving without a license tag
Elizarraraz posted a bond of $7,650 and was released from custody on Saturday…”
