HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NARRATIVE:
“Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Accident Investigation Unit (AIU) investigators have charged a Gainesville man with aggravated assault for intentionally driving his pickup truck into a man on a moped earlier this week and dragging his behind the vehicle.
HCSO Uniform Patrol Division deputies arrived at the incident in the 2100 block of Skelton Road at (about midnight Wednesday). They spoke with the male victim, 62, who was being transported to Northeast Georgia Medical by Hall County Fire Rescue for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. They also interviewed the pickup driver, Gregory Langston Motes, 55, of Gainesville…
According to the preliminary investigation by deputies and AIU, the victim drove to Motes’ residence, and the two, who were involved in an ongoing dispute, argued. Motes then intentionally backed his pickup from the driveway of his property into the victim, who was near the road on the moped. Motes drove forward, repositioned the pickup and accelerated backwards hitting the victim again. Investigators believe Motes continued to drive for several feet, dragging the victim and his moped.
Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for aggravated assault (felony). Warrant Service Unit deputies transported Motes to the Hall County Jail later…where he remains held without bond.”
