HCSO: Drug possession suspect now facing trafficking charges

Charges involving the trafficking of drugs have been filed against a Gainesville man already in jail on drug possession charges.

A Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) spokesman said Monday the new charges are the result of follow-up investigation from a traffic stop earlier this year where Jeremy Dennis Maney, 44, didn’t initially face charges.

Investigators charged him for approximately 30 grams of methamphetamine confiscated during the stop. He’s charged with trafficking methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine, both felonies.

EARLIER NARRATIVE FROM HCSO:

“Just before 6 p.m. April 8…a Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) patrol deputy observed
Mr. Maney walking along the railroad tracks on Candler Road near Lee Land Road.

During the course of a conversation with the deputy, Mr. Maney handed over a pill bottle containing six Percocet tablets. The bottle was labeled for bupropion; it was also labeled with a name other than Mr. Maney’s.

Mr. Maney was transported to the jail where, during the booking process, jail personnel discovered 15
morphine pills in the coin pocket of his jeans.

As a result, Mr. Maney was charged with two counts of felony possession of a Schedule II drug and one
misdemeanor count of drugs not in original container.”
