Two mobile home fires in the county last week have prompted Hall County Fire Rescue (HCFR) to issue a “dos and don’ts” list of things you can do to safeguard your home from such an incident, while noting that residential fires – regardless of the kind of structure – are more common during the winter months.
Do:
-Close your bedroom doors at night
-Have working smoke alarms
-Get low and go to escape the smoke
-Have an escape plan for your family
Don’t:
-Heat your home with your oven
-Leave your space heaters/fireplaces unattended
-Plug appliances into an extension cord or overload extension cords
