Hall’s jobless rate up

Hall County’s unemployment rate is up six-tenths a percent over a month ago but the state labor commissioner says it’s a seasonal thing.

“Every summer, our students and seasonal workers inject our workforce with a fresh wave of talent and energy,” Bruce Thompson said.

The increase means the jobless rate in Hall County in June was 3.2 percent. A year ago, it was 2.6.

The county’s labor force decreased compared to May by 566 and the number of employed residents is down by 1,222.

Meanwhile, the unemployment rate was up six-tenths to 3.5 percent over-the-month in the 13-county Geogia Mountains region, which includes Hall County and most of the rest of northeast Georgia.
