Early voting begins Tuesday for the special statewide Public Service Commission (PSC) primaries scheduled June 17.

If a runoff is necessary, it will be held July 15. The winners of the primaries will meet on General Election Day – Nov. 4.
The special election is being held because of a 2022 lawsuit challenging the way members of the PSC are elected. Four Black Fulton County residents argued that electing members of the PSC statewide rather than by district dilutes Black voting strength in violation of the federal Voting Rights Act, making it more difficult for Black voters to elect a candidate of their choice and the courts agreed.
