Hail strikes Hall, other parts of NE Ga.

The strong storms that struck Hall County and other parts of northeast Georgia late Friday and into Friday night brought with them hail in places.

There were social media postings from North Hall, Lumpkin County, White County and other places that included pictures of the icy pellets.

Accompanying comments included “big hailstorm in North Hall, grape size hail,” “I’m in Lula and we got hail,” “awwwww HAIL,” “got stuck in it driving home from getting the kids! It was crazy!”, “we got hit hard, too, off Skitts Mountain Drive.” And not to be left out, roofing companies and companies that fix dents in cars were getting in their two cents’ worth, too.

The airport in Gainesville picked up about an inch of rain during the storms with a top wind gust of 17 mph. Much of north Georgia was under a Flash Flood Warning from about 10:00 Friday night until around 4:00 Saturday morning.

The outlook for the rest of the weekend in the Gainesville area? Mostly clear with little chance of rain and highs around 80.
