Gville man wanted on domestic violence charges jailed after another such incident

HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NARRATIVE:

“Mark Anthony Fitts, 47, of Gainesville remains in the Hall County Jail with no bond following his arrest on charges related to a domestic violence case.

Just after 9 p.m., Monday, April 14, 2025, Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputies responded to a call at a residence on Dana Drive in reference to a physical domestic argument. A friend of the female victim had called 911 to report he had witnessed Mr. Fitts strike the victim in the face. Both Mr. Fitts and the victim were at the residence when deputies arrived.

The preliminary investigation determined Mr. Fitts and the victim had argued earlier in the day. During that argument, Mr. Fitts threatened the victim with a pocketknife and a baseball bat. He left the residence and returned around 9 p.m. and the argument resumed. The verbal argument escalated and Mr. Fitts grabbed the victim by her hair, pulling her out of a chair where she was sitting. He then struck her in the face with an open hand, knocking her to the ground. He also kicked the victim in the back of her head.

After gathering evidence and observing the victim’s injuries, deputies obtained warrants for felony aggravated assault under the Family Violence Act (FVA) and misdemeanor battery FVA. Mr. Fitts also had an outstanding warrant for battery FVA from an incident that occurred in December.”
