Gville man facing 40 child sex charges

A Gainesville man remains in the Hall County Jail with no bond following his arrest on 40
counts involving child sex activity.

HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NEWS RELEASE:

“…The Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit began
its investigation in February 2025 after receiving two cybertips from the National Center for
Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) that someone in the area had been uploading child
sexual abuse material (CSAM) to a social media app. ICAC investigators were able to identify
the offender as (31-year-old Benjamin Lamar Gudmundson).

Investigators conducted a search warrant at Mr. Gudmundson’s residence on Tuesday…
seizing multiple electronic devices. The initial search led to the discovery of 10 images of
children, all under the age of 16, engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Additional charges are
expected pending completion of forensic screening of the electronic devices.

Mr. Gudmundson faces 20 felony counts of sexual exploitation of children, 10 for possession and
10 for distribution of CSAM.”
