A Gainesville man was killed Tuesday night in a two-vehicle collision on
Cornelia Highway (Ga. 365) at White Sulphur Road. Richard Dean Short, 60, died at the scene of the crash.
HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NEWS RELEASE:
“Investigators with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Accident Investigation Unit (AIU)
and Uniform Patrol Division (UPD) were dispatched to the scene just before 9:30 p.m.
The initial investigation determined Mr. Short was attempting to make a left turn from the
northbound lanes of Cornelia Highway to the eastbound side of White Sulphur Road when
he pulled into the path of a vehicle traveling southbound on Cornelia Highway. The four
occupants of the other vehicle complained of minor injuries. Hall County emergency
medical personnel evaluated them at the scene.
Traffic in the area was impacted for about 90 minutes while AIU conducted its
investigation.”
