Groundbreaking was held Monday for the new Gainesville Public Safety Training Complex.
Located on Fullenwider Road, the nearly 43,000-square-foot facility with 10,000-plus square feet of training space will serve as a centralized hub for the police and fire departments, among others, according to city officials.
Prior to throwing dirt, Mayor Sam Couvillon, Police Chief Jay Parrish and Fire Chief Brandon Ellis discussed the training complex’s future impact with members of the City Council, and city leadership and staff, in addition to representatives from the companies that will be involved in the construction.
The facility is scheduled to be completed by next spring.
