Graffiti police; Illegal auto repair shops; Free fishing days; Skeletons found under bridge

*One man is on a mission to clean up graffiti in Atlanta. Craig Galanos, the founder of the Atlanta Beautification Committee to combat illegal tagging. Fox 5 Atlanta reports that armed with a paint sprayer and donations, he covers up graffiti on utility poles, stop signs, and overpasses around the city. Galanos distinguishes between graffiti and commissioned street art, aiming to eradicate illegal tagging that damages Atlanta’s reputation.

*The city of Atlanta has cited two homeowners in a northwest Atlanta neighborhood for allegedly operating illegal auto repair shops from their properties. Neighbors have complained for years about junked cars, oil-stained driveways, and safety hazards caused by the alleged repair businesses. Fox 5 Atlanta reports that despite repeated calls for help, residents say city officials have been slow to intervene. The homeowners deny the allegations, but city inspectors have issued citations and residents are hopeful that enforcement will finally address the long-standing issue.  

*The Georgia Department of Natural Resources is offering the public two free fishing days in support of National Fishing and Boating Week. Free fishing will be offered Saturday, May 31, and June 7. Residents of the state do not need to purchase a fishing license to fish during those weeks.

*The skeletal remains of two people have been found under the Sidney Lanier Bridge near Brunswick. Police say the early stages of the investigation suggest the remains belong to two people who had likely been there for several months. Both were dressed in cold-weather clothing.
