The Gainesville Police Department (GPD) reports losing one of its K-9 partners, K-9 Ryker, to a sudden medical condition while on duty this week.
“Ryker brought new adventures to his partner, Officer Quick and to this agency,” Chief Jay Parrish said. “He was full of energy and always eager to work. As a dual-purpose K-9, he was certified in police utility and narcotics detection. Ryker has assisted in apprehending countless criminals and is responsible for the seizure of multitudes of narcotics.”
Chief Parrish went on to say that Ryker was a “true hero” that enjoyed his job, keeping the citizens of Gainesville/Hall County safe. “He was loved by all who met him.
“Ryker was more than a dog; he was a dedicated officer of this agency and a loyal friend. He will truly be missed.”
