GPD investigates: ATM damaged; Overdose death

Among the cases opened by the Gainesville Police Department (GPD) in recent days:

*An ATM at Lanier Credit Union on Thompson Bridge Road. The amount of the damage was $2,000, according to the police report. It happened between Dec. 1 and Dec. 2 when it was reported. No money was reported taken from the march and the type and extent of damage was not disclosed. It was at least the second such incident at that location this year and the third overall in the city overall since Jan. 1.

*A drug overdose death occurred Thanksgiving weekend at a residence on the north side of town. The victim was a 28-year-old man. Lt. Kevin Holbrook, spokesman for the police department, said at the time that the kind of drug was unknown. This brings to at least six the number of overdose deaths in Hall County this year.
