GPD chief recognized at prayer breakfast; Oakwood drug take-back results; ‘Tulsa King’ filming returning

*Gainesville Police Chief Jay Parrish (pictured) was presented with the Daniel Award at Thursday’s National Day of Prayer breakfast. The Daniel Award is given to a person who has “courageously stood for Jesus Christ and His truths within his or her sphere of influence.”

*Oakwood Police Chief Tim Hatch says his department collected about 25 pounds of prescription drugs during the Drug Enforcement Administration-sponsored Drug Take-Back Day Saturday. At a similar one-day event last October, Chief Hatch reported at the time that about 40 pounds were collected.

*”Tulsa King” filming resumes in Gainesville next week. Various downtown streets will be closed at times Monday and Tuesday, night and day, to accommodate the filming schedule. “Tulsa King” is an Emmy-nominated TV series starring Sylvester Stallone who was in town for the first round of filming last month.
