*Georgia’s Secretary of State is calling for deportation protections of Afghan Christians. He wrote a letter to the U.S. Homeland Security director Thursday, explaining that Afghanistan under the Taliban is one of the most dangerous places for Christians. He’s requesting a 90-day window so the federal government can hear their asylum claims. The CEO of the Afghan American Alliance of Georgia told the AJC she appreciates that Raffensperger even cares, but it’s galling he’s only talking about Christians.
*The pastor of megachurch New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Stonecrest is calling for a new nationwide boycott of Target stores to demand the restoration of diversity principles and initiatives, including support for Black-owned banks and businesses. Target has affirmed its commitment to inclusivity, despite phasing out some DEI initiatives earlier this year. Pastor Rev. Jamal Bryant’s original 40-day boycott coincided with the start of Lent and received support from other faith leaders. According to reports, Target’s foot traffic is down on average nearly 8% year over year. Target operates nearly 2,000 stores nationwide and employs over 400,000 people.
