Calling it a “critical safety improvement project,” the state Department of Transportation (GDOT) has awarded a $2.7 million contract for a roundabout at the intersection of Georgia Highway 124, county road 47, and Old Hog Mountain Road in Barrow County. That’s just a few miles from the Hall and Gwinnett County lines.
GDOT says a Traffic Engineering (TE) study conducted in August 2017 identified key safety concerns and recommended the roundabout as the “most effective solution for mitigating those issues.”
The scheduled completion date is March 31, 2027.
